I made the indicator bar some time ago, but was waiting for some drafting film to print the symbols. Evetually used 'Jetstar' inkjet film intended for pcb artwork, (Farnel 4138090). Picture shows components ready for assembly.
Fitted the clear plastic window followed by the film, the ambient light shines through easily.
Test of the oil pressure warning. Photo looks fuzzy, is actually very clear and sharp. Led is being driven at 100mW, it can go up to 1W, so should be easily visible in sunlight.
Fitted in dash above steering wheel aperture. This is removeable from the front, so can be easily modified.
