The GD bodyshell is supplied with a coloured plain or striped gel coat that is good enough to polish directly. I opted to paint mine as I want a more complex stripe arrangement and a deep metallic finish, with several clear coats. I had two ideas for the 'look', grey with black stripes:
Or black with double orange stripes, (minus the carbon fibre effect):
I thought the second (black) scheme was more traditional especially with brown seats and wooden steering wheel and gear knob. Carpet will be black, leather seats and trim will be Andrew Muirhead '
Burnt Orange' (arrowed). [Later changed to Auburn GP122] Black metallic paint is VAG black. I could not find a gear knob to match the Moto-Lita steering wheel so made one from mahogany, aluminium and six brass screws.
